Hi everyone, I've been researching on liver cancer lately, and I came across the idea of tumor markers. Can anyone here describe what tumor markers are and which ones are commonly utilised for liver cancer?
That's proper, Customer 2. In the case of liver cancer, there are numerous tumor markers that are commonly utilised for identification and monitoring. A of the most well-known ones is alpha-fetoprotein (afp). Elevated stages of Afp in the blood can indicate the presence of liver cancer, although it's not specific to liver cancer and can be elevated in other conditions.
Another tumor marker that's oftentimes used for liver cancer is des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin (dcp), also known as prothrombin induced by vitamin K absence-ii (pivka-ii). Likes Afp, elevated stages of Dcp in the blood can suggest the presence of liver cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (hcc).
