I think it's on top important to contemplate the biology of cancer itself. As we age, our corpse may not respond as effectively to treatments, and cancer cells can be more resilient. So even if an older patient is healthy total, their age could still effect their capability to fight off the cancer.

There get been several studies examining survival rates for phase 3 colon cancer across diverse age groups. 1 study I came across found that younger patients (under 50) had substantially better survival rates when compared to older patients (over 70). however, there were still some older patients who responded well to treatment and had long-term survival.
