gastric cancer can be classified into a number of types based on the type of cells where the cancer starts and other factors. The most usual type is adenocarcinoma, which develops from the cells that form the innermost lining of the stomach. More types include lymphoma, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (gists), and carcinoid tumors.
