As a Cancer myself, I can definitely chime in here. For me, trust and emotional help are non-negotiable. I need someone who can control my temper swings and offer a shoulder to slender on when existence will get tough. Loyalty is also a huge a - I can't be with somebody who's not fully committed to the relationship.
