Are Shocking Gum Cancer Photos an Powerful Tool for Awareness or Too Disturbing?

I not too long ago came across some gum cancer photos on the internet, and I need to say, they have been truly disturbing. But it got me contemplating, are these types of images really needed to raise awareness on the risks of gum cancer?
