Is Pulmonary Emphysema Cancer?

Hey everyone, I've been hearing some conflicting information about pulmonary emphysema lately. Can someone clarify for m'if it's related to cancer at all?

I think there's a common misconception on this. Pulmonary emphysema is actually not cancer itself, but it can at times be a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd), which does heighten the risk of developing lung cancer.

That's right,. Pulmonary emphysema is a type of Copd characterized by damage to the air sacs in the lungs, making it harder to breathe. While it's not cancer, the injury to the lungs from emphysema can certainly increase the risk of developing lung cancer.

Quitting smoking is the most essential step someone with emphysema can just take to reduce their risk of lung cancer. It's also crucial to avoid secondhand smoke and more lung irritants as considerably as possible.
